Hello and thank you for joining us on this podcast episode!

This week we’re diving into a subject that we truly feel does not get enough attention especially if you are a senior. Staying active as an amputee.

Whether you have a loss of a leg, both legs, an arm or other areas of your body it is still just as important to remain active and reap the benefits of the many workout options available to you.

For this discussion, Meredith talks about why it’s so important to stay active and what we can do to shed more light on this topic as it covers many people across the globe.

We feel it is so important to bring this subject to the forefront and we hope you agree.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

1). What are common reasons that an amputation can occur in both lower and or upper body.

2). What should be a good mindset when going into a workout as an amputee and how thinking differently will create more opportunities to try workouts that you think you might have been able to do.

3). Why your core is probably the most important area of the body when you are missing and arm or leg and how it can help balance you when exercising.

4). Why you can still use resistance bands for upper body and other types of resistance and learning how to fasten them safely so you can still benefit from using them.

5). Some of Meredith’s tips on how to approach a new workout and the importance of listening to your body as you go through the movements.

6). Meredith’s advice for trainers and people who work with amputees and why it’s important to first listen to you clients and understand their needs first before diving into a workout program.
