In this exercise video Meredith is guiding you through an advanced HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) style workout using light weight dumbbells and optional ankle weights for added resistance. This is also a “No Squats! No Hops! No Floor!” workout which means it is safer for those who may have knee issues or prefer not to do any hopping, squatting or movements on the floor.
HIIT workouts are a great way to build up your cardiovascular system and add strength at the same time. They’re designed to have short periods of “work” followed by a short rest period which pushes your heart to peaks and valleys. This “up and down” momentum is good for your heart as it builds up strength to cater to this pattern benefiting you and your overall health.
This is an advanced workout so be sure to preview the movements ahead of time before decided if this is right for you. Make sure to only do movements that you are comfortable with and never force anything that causes pain or discomfort. If you do decide to use weights in this exercise, make sure they are lighter weight and manageable for you.
Take breaks when you need to and have a great workout!
