In this exercise video Meredith is guiding you through some beginner level seated stretches that you can do every morning when you wake up to help get you loosened up, relaxed and ready for the day.
Stretching on a regular basis is always a good idea and getting your body stretched out in the morning is a great way to start your day. When we awaken, our bodies are usually in a relaxed but contracted state. This is because of the natural fibers in our muscles and tendons contracting at night during rest. Applying some light and relaxing stretches when you first wake up is a great way to “awaken” the body and get it ready for the activities of the day.
Stretching also is a great way to help prevent injury during any rigorous activities that you may go through including exercising.
As always, keep water close by and only do the movements that don’t cause any pain or discomfort. Relax when you need to and have a great workout!
