Cognitive Disability Fitness is an exercise program that goes at a slower pace, still while keeping it safe, effective, and fun. It is perfect for anyone, especially those needing a slower paced workout due to Alzheimer’s or other dementias, stroke, and more. They are great workouts to incorporate into a daily routine if the participant is at home, or in memory care or an assisted living community.
In this exercise video, Meredith is guiding you through an easy to follow, slow range of motion workout using simple pool noodles as added grip resistance (optional). This exercise is all seated and is great for those who prefer lower impact, seated routines. This also benefits those who may have cognitive challenges and rely on verbal and visual cues for safe and effective exercising.
Remember to only do movements that don’t cause any pain or discomfort, keep your water close by and take breaks when you need to.
Have a great workout!
